Josh is a recruitment leader who has worked in cleantech in Europe for the last 6 years. Focussing on helping IPPs, developers, EPC’s, O&M and product manufacturing companies hire their teams across all types of commercial, industrial, and utility scale projects and products.

 

He specialises in energy storage, and large scale onshore renewable projects, as well as the products that underpin them. Josh is originally from the UK and has been living in Amsterdam for the last 6 years, he joined Acre in 2024 to expand our Sustainable Energy & Clean Technologies division in Europe.

Acre are supporting a leading utility scale energy storage developer in Europe, who are currently focused on developing in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. They already have one project in operation, as well as a pipeline of 2GW currently under development. They are a young business, with a very strong sustainability-led motivation to succeed in this space as they already have.

 

 

They are looking for a Project Developer to join the team in Germany, and continue to secure new and develop their existing pipeline. They are involved in the whole project lifecycle and have strong financial backing to support their development.

 

 

As a Project Developer, you’ll lead the development of large-scale battery storage projects from concept to construction.

  • Overall Project Development – Full A-Z Project Development from land, to permit, to grid connection.
  • Stakeholder Management – Build strong relationships with authorities, grid operators, and landowners.
  • Regulatory Compliance – Navigate permitting requirements and ensure approvals.
  • Collaboration – Work with internal and external teams to bring projects to financial close.
  • Business Growth – Expand our presence in the German energy market.

 

What You'll Bring

  • Experience – At least 5 years in project development, with a minimum of 2 years specifically in energy projects, smart grids, or battery energy storage in Germany.
  • Industry Knowledge – Strong understanding of the German energy sector, including grid connection processes, permitting requirements, and market dynamics.
  • Language Skills – Fluency in both German and English, with excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Education – A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in engineering, energy technology, business administration, or a related field.
  • Skills – A proactive, independent approach, strong multitasking abilities, and the ability to build and maintain lasting relationships.

Senior Project Developer

Acre are currently helping an international IPP, who focus on The Netherlands, Germany and the UK find a Senior Project Developer in the Netherlands. The business are backed by two large sponsors, who have collectively developed over 3GW of projects globally, and are therefore positioned to become a leading European IPP across their focus markets.



They do the full cycle from development, construction, EPC management, asset management, as well as power sales and commercialisation of utility scale. In the Netherlands they have 68 projects in operation or under construction, a pipeline of 7GW in development globally, with 1GW which is operational, under construction or in advanced development stages.



They are currently looking to grow their Project Development team in the Netherlands, with the main focus still being on large scale solar and co-located BESS projects, greenfield and brownfield development. They are confident with the recent changes in the market, that they have a good strategy in place to continue to be able to succeed in this space.

 



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of large-scale solar PV projects and co-located BESS, from site identification to permitting and stakeholder management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with landowners, municipalities, energy cooperatives, and other key stakeholders.
  • Secure planning permissions, licenses, and grid connections while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with financial and technical teams to optimize project feasibility.
  • Apply for relevant subsidies and funding opportunities.
  • Engage with local communities and industry associations to support project development.
  • Monitor and analyze relevant political, legislative, and market developments.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, risks, and reporting to senior management.




Your Profile

  • Proven experience in project development across solar, wind, BESS, or other large scale onshore projects.
  • Strong understanding of project feasibility, including technical and financial aspects.
  • Experience with planning processes and regulatory approvals.
  • Knowledge of transmission and distribution networks, including grid connection procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing, and commercial skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with flexibility, creativity, and a proactive approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Detail-oriented and results-driven.
  • Fluency in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
