Your Role

Key Responsibilities

Role Overview
As the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be working on novel mechanical designs for their utility-scale sodium-ion energy storage systems (ESS). You will be responsible for designing mechanical systems and components, collaborating with design, analysis, manufacturing, and program teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of high-voltage Energy Storage Systems (ESS) from concept through final design, testing, and production.
- Create 3D CAD models for equipment structures and internal layouts using software like SolidWorks; conduct FEA analyses to ensure compliance with mechanical, seismic, and shipping standards.
- Perform thermal simulations and heat transfer analyses to support battery system thermal management.
- Define and manage requirements for subsystems and individual components.
- Work in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including electrical, controls, electronics, logistics, and manufacturing, as well as external suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Contribute to a fast-paced culture of rapid prototyping and testing.
- Encourage teamwork, adaptability, and a hands-on approach—no task is too large or too small.
Key Skills and Requirements
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical product design
- Strong foundation in mechanical and thermal engineering principles
- Proficient with commercial CAD and PLM tools; experience with FEA and standard CAE methods
- Background in designing and manufacturing products at medium to high production volumes
- Practical experience in prototyping, validation, and testing
- Deep interest in renewable energy, sustainability, and leveraging technology for environmental impact
- Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time
- Must be eligible to work in Europe
